GLUWU — License & Terms

Last updated 2026-09-04 · plain language, and it means what it says.

Two tiers, one rule: you always know what you have

Demo (free). Make a song, hear its best 30 seconds, share the demo link anywhere, and change the song as often as you like. Demo audio is for personal, non-commercial listening and sharing. GLUWU keeps the rights to demo recordings; if you publish a song to Community it may be featured on GLUWU and on GLUWU FM, credited to the name you chose. No signup is needed for the demo tier.

Studio (paid) and credits. When you unlock a full song — with a Studio membership or a credit — the full recording is yours: we assign to you every right we hold in that recording and its lyrics, you may use it personally or commercially (videos, streams, podcasts, games, apps, ads) with no attribution required, and we will not feature the full song anywhere unless you publish it yourself. Songs unlocked while you were a member stay yours after you cancel. The one thing you may not do is resell or redistribute the raw audio files as-is (sell your video with the music in it, not the music files themselves).

A note on ownership. Copyright law for AI-generated audio is unsettled and differs by country; purely machine-generated recordings may not be copyrightable at all. Our promise is the practical one: whatever rights exist, they go to you for the songs you unlock, and GLUWU will never claim them back.

Two kinds of audio, honestly labeled

The instrumental version (engine audio). Composed from a ~30-byte seed and performed by deterministic synthesis in your browser — oscillators, filters, and public CC-licensed sample recordings (Salamander Grand Piano, CC BY 3.0, Alexander Holm; VocalSet vowels, CC BY 4.0). No model trained on copyrighted recordings touches this audio, which is why we say it carries no Content ID risk: it is copyright-clean by construction. The same seed renders the identical audio every time, and this version stays free.

The studio recording (AI audio). The produced record of your song — the demo and the full song — is generated by an AI music model and is always labeled as AI audio in the app. If you publish it somewhere that requires AI-generated content to be disclosed, disclose it. Streamed recordings are kept on our servers for about 30 days — the file you download after unlocking is yours for good.

Lyrics

Lyrics are written to order and are original text; the writer is instructed never to reproduce existing songs, and a named artist in your wish is treated as a style reference only — never as the subject and never quoted. Words you type yourself remain yours.

Lyrics you type are yours to type

When you edit or paste lyrics, you confirm you wrote them or have the right to use them. Before a song goes public, a screen checks whether typed lyrics are substantially those of an existing released song and refuses to publish them if so; it is imperfect on purpose in both directions, so publishing is your responsibility.

Reports and takedowns

Every public song carries a report flag. Three reports from different people hide a song from the feed and the front page until we review it; the maker's own link keeps working meanwhile. Rights holders can write to us with the song link and the work they believe is infringed; we act on valid notices promptly and remove repeat infringers' songs from the feed for good. A song we remove for infringement stays removed.

What you agree not to do

Privacy, in one paragraph

No tracking profiles. Your songs live as seeds (~30 bytes) in your browser and, if you share or publish, on our servers, together with any record you unlocked. Studio and credit purchases go through Stripe; we keep the email Stripe gives us only to find your purchase again. We keep anonymous daily counters (songs made, songs heard) to see if the product works. Lyric text travels to our servers to be written and sung; your microphone audio is never uploaded.

The honest fine print

GLUWU is provided as-is, without warranty. We can't promise the service or any stored recording lasts forever — which is why downloads exist for unlocked songs and seeds rebuild the instrumental version permanently. Membership fees are for access while you are a member; songs you unlocked stay yours. This page is a plain-language promise, not legal advice; if you need contract-grade terms for a commercial project, write to us first.
